Alderman Martin Lomasney is shot by a constituent.

March 7, 1894

Lomasney is shot in the leg by West End resident James H. Dunca outside the mayor’s office in City Hall. According to the Boston Herald, Duncan had recently been ordered by the Board of Health to vacate his Billerica Street apartment due to an outbreak of diptheria in the building. The incident prompts city officials declare that, hereafter, “There will be no loafing or lounging about the corridors [of City Hall.]”
